Age and Gender of Teams:
At this time, we are operating Four girls' teams, 12/14/15/16's. As our program expands, we hope to develop a more extensive girls' program.

Girls 12's- Paula & Steve Schwartz return to the 12U Age group this year, to begin a new team level to the NCFS Club. Paula’s 2010 team made it to the gold rounds 4 times, (a new team with only 3 returning players) brought home 1- 2nd Place Gold Medal out of 6 tournaments entered. These 14’s will move on under the guidance of Jason, Brandy and Scott in 2011. Paula's husband Steve will be assisting her this year.

This is Paula’s 2nd year with NCFS, Paula has been coaching for 16 years in a variety of capacities. She has coached USAV with Gameface/Southwest Illinois Volleyball Club (SWI) since 1998-2007. She also has experience coaching with Elizabeth Ann Seaton grade school for 4 years, Zion Lutheran Grade School 2 years, and Cahokia High School 4 years. Paula has also acted as a player/coach for the women's USAV teams, Tri County and Networks. Paula currently works as the Cost Basis Team Lead for Wells Fargo Advisors in St. Louis. Paula and her husband, Steve, reside in Florissant, MO and have three children, Stephanie, William, and Erin. Together they currently act as the tournament directors for the adult volleyball tournaments, EVF. The team will be entered into 6 tournaments in 2011, beginning in January, our younger teams do not go out of town.

Girls 14's – Jason Wacker, Brandy Bowdry and Scott Jefferson  will be entering the coaching arena together for us, Jason has un officially helped out volleyball coaches for the last 2 years in Cyc and Club, he has much experience coaching other sports also and had a child on our 13's team last season. Brandy has been coaching the team for the last 2 years her 2010 team made it to the gold rounds 4 times, (a new team with only 3 returning players) brought home 1- 2nd Place Gold Medal out of 6 tournaments entered, and in 2008 2- 2nd Place Silver Medals with the assistance of Scott (returning this year), Scott is the Varsity coach at Christian Academy. The team will be entered in up to 6 tournaments. One likely, out of town, probably in late March early April when the weather is nicer to travel in. Depending on the player goals, more tournaments can be scheduled at additional cost. The 1st tournament will be in January, players should leave all weekends available...we will not schedule on Easter Day, will need to know all religious events at registration for scheduling purposes, please report any Spring Break plans on the Tryout registration page as tournaments will be chosen immediately after the team is picked, in order to get the selection we prefer.

Girls 15'sRon Kilby & Amy’s team placed 3rd in Copper Regionals in 2009 and maintained a season record of 38-37 with 2 tournament medals earned out of 6 tournaments entered.  The 2010 team  Placed 1st in Gold, 2nd in Silver, (2) 3rd in Gold, (2) 3rd in Silver, out of 9 Total Tournaments. A season record of 43-38. Moved up in overall rankings to 39 out of 81 teams. The girls made it to the Bronze Regionals this year and Conquered many of the stronger teams throughout the season.

The team will enter 5 gateway tournaments in 2011 plus 2 out of town (looking at Bloomington,Minnesota (Mall of America) and the Disney Classic in Orlando,Florida- played the 27th & 28th of March, Spring Break for Most), 1 G/S seeding here in St. Louis and we will attempt a National Qualifier this year(preferably the St. Louis one-typically 3rd weekend of March, (yes right before the Disney Classic)- if it comes back-in a effort to avoid hotel and travel costs for the 1st qualifier attempted).

This team will be adding a Libero to the roster this season, & seeking a Setter, a Ds, and a Middle.

PLAYER'S TRYING OUT FOR THE 15'S TEAM NEED TO BE AWARE THAT TOURNAMENTS WILL BEGIN IN FEB, IN AN EFFORT TO GET THE AMOUNT OF PRACTICE'S NEEDED PRIOR TO BEGINNING TOURNAMENTS.

YOU  MUST BE IN ATTENDANCE AT BOTH PRACTICES PRIOR TO A TOURNAMENT, TO PLAY IN THE TOURNAMENT.  we will not schedule on Easter Day. Please report any Spring Break plans on the Tryout registration page as tournaments will be chosen immediately after the team is picked and two of them surround Spring Break.   We ask this so that we can  get the selection we prefer on tournaments, so the teams get good visibility. The 15's will not waiver players.

Girls 16's -  Ed Kennedy  will be entering the coaching arena for his 1st time with us, He is  head coach at River Roads Lutheran School, has 5 years experience, is Impact certified and had a child on our 15's team last season. Ed also has 6 years as a Cub Master within his resume. The team will be entered in up to 6 tournaments. One out of town, probably in April when the weather is nicer to travel in. Depending on the player goals, more tournaments can be scheduled at additional cost. The 1st tournament will be in February, players should leave all weekends available...we will not schedule on ACT dates or Easter Day. We are unable to predict Proms as they are scheduled later in most school years, please report any Spring Break plans on the Tryout registration page as tournaments will be chosen immediately after the team is picked, in order to get the selection we prefer.

All coaches and assistants are certified, with experience ranging from college play to current USA-V players. Age waivers may be granted to players from the area who demonstrate appropriate abilities at tryouts.

Level of Competition:
NCFS - VELOCITY was developed by  area coaches in response to a need we perceived as we visited area schools and met with players and their families. We noticed a lack of teams and programs in place to expand competitive, college-preparatory volleyball experience to  area players and families. Our goal is to make the club experience  accessible, enlightening, competitive, and fun. We seek to offer a competitive club experience and to prepare high school athletes for a more elite experience in college athletics if possible. We also aim to give players more depth and breadth of experience by targeting specific skills, exposing players to a broader range of competition, and by developing desirable mental and physical characteristics in each athlete. It is our club philosophy that during the 11-14 age range, specialty positions are not picked for the girls, other than setter's, in an effort to make sure they are all competent in all aspects of the game, prior to entering their high school teams.

Locations Used for Practice:
Ritenour School District gymnasiums:  Thru their community involvement program they aid us in keeping the club costs to a minimum in gym fees.

Anticipated Costs:
Players and their families can expect to incur a cost of $550.00 for the entire season. This includes the following items: 1 cap sleeve jersey, 1 sock, 1 short, tournaments projected and gateway fees, equipment, gym fees with Ritenour (if additional gyms are needed outside this programs additional fees may be necessary), tryout gym fees, coaches registration fees, end of season party and coaches thankyou gifts, and administration costs. This does not include: knee pads, shoes, bags, warm ups, travel-hotels, gas, food, plyos etc. which are the responsibility of the individual athlete and their families. All Club fees are non-refundable. Coaches are volunteers in order to keep club costs to a minimum. However, if a coach has no child on the team, their hotel & travel costs will need to be supplemented, Comfort Inn will be used for the hotel which provides breakfast. This amount would be divided between the team members of that team...approx $35.00/player/ trip.

Tryout Information:
Please check the girl's tryout page for specifics.
Parents MUST be present to sign waivers and register athlete(s). A $10 tryout fee applies. Player's should pre-register thru our online registration system located on the Tryouts Page. Parents may wait in the gym or they may arrange to pick up their child at the conclusion of tryouts. Please have an idea of the dates your child will be unavailable for tournaments as we will need to begin to schedule tournaments-immediately after tryout weekend.  Registration will be immediately after tryout weekend, which must be paid in full, see registration page. Fundraisers will be offered at registration to give you an opportunity to re-coupe your registration fees or help with travel costs.  As a club we are required to give you __________to decide before calling our alternates...please be timely with your calls, as we will stick to the _____________ wait period, which begins at the end of the tryout.

(PLAYERS MAY SHOW UP LATE, NO LATER THAN 1 HOUR, 15 MINUTES, IN ORDER TO GIVE YOU A CHANCE TO GET TO US FROM ANOTHER TRYOUT)

TRYOUTS ARE OPEN TO ALL, NO HEIGHT REQUIREMENTS, JUST THE DESIRE TO IMPROVE AND THE SKILLS..

I'm creating this site to improve communication among our team members and to keep our fans up-to-date. By including such things as the schedule, snack lists, practice/tournament dates and directions to gyms, I hope the site will cut down on phone calls and improve game attendance.
